In August, during its annual gathering in Montana, the Federation of Fly Fishers presented Scott Sanchez with its prestigious Buz Buszek Memorial Award. The Buszek honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the fly-tying art and has an outstanding record of promoting that art.

Scott Sanchez wins Buzz Buszek Memorial Award

“Scott is famous not only in Jackson but nationally for his many creative fly patterns, especially the Double Bunny streamer, the Convertible, Spandex Stone and Everything Emerger. His books, magazine articles and columns are equally enduring testaments to his artistic skills,” noted outdoor writer Paul Bruun in the Jackson Hole News & Guide. “Scott Sanchez is an exceptional fisherman whose fly pattern successes spring from the blending of simplified tying techniques with workable images. The fact that Scott embraces freshwater bass, saltwater species as well as wild trout activities allows his creativity to flourish in many venues.”

Sanchez is the author of The Never-Ending Stream and Introduction to Saltwater Fly Tying.
